Finally, we can all rejoice: It's time to start wearing makeup again. After a year inside and a summer too hot for anything more than sunscreen, makeup enthusiasts are dusting off their brushes, cleaning their tools, and preparing for a fall of fun makeup. Celebrity makeup artist Allan Avendaño, aka @allanface, broke down the five biggest trends for fall makeup. So get your graphic pencils ready, set, and go, go, go try these looks!

“It’s my favorite thing to create and I feel like so many people are playing around with graphic liner these days,” explains Avendaño. “It’s been an opportunity to get creative since the face mask has become a must-have accessory!” You can choose from simple, perfect black lines or asymmetrical shapes, but the graphic liner trend is a great bold choice for fall.

Bold Pops of Color
“Since eyes have become the focus because of the current state of the world, another trend I see taking over are pops of color on the eyes,” says Avendaño. “Since the world is opening back up, people are getting excited to dress up again, and coordinating your eye makeup to your clothes gives your look something special, since you never know when you’re going to have to cover your face.” Think violets, pinks, yellows, and neons. The brighter the better!

It's time to coordinate. “Eyeshadows, blush, and lip color all in the same color family make for an impactful and fun look,” he says. “Golden peachy tones flushed berry shades, vampy plum hues are all super fun tones to up the ante for fall.”

Smokey Eyes
Turn up the heat with sexy, sultry smokey eyes for the fall. “It’s usually a good choice for fall but amp it up by smudging that liner, or using deep-colored tones like purple, or adding metallic eyeshadows to the mix,” Avendaño says.

Darker Lip Liner
“I have always loved using a darker lip liner and pairing it with a lighter lipstick or gloss to create dimension,” says Avendaño. “It was a trend I grew up with in the '90s. I started trying it on clients again and it’s been a popular lip look.”
