Who’s up for a game of pall-mall? A precursor to croquet, pall-mall was popular in France and Great Britain throughout the 16th and 17th centuries and continued to be played through the Regency era, as depicted in the second season of Shondaland’s hit Netflix series Bridgerton. It’s a game that takes great skill and a competitive disposition to excel at, and as you can see in the video above, the Bridgerton cast is up for the challenge. Watch as Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Charithra Chandran, Luke Newton, Claudia Jessie, Luke Thompson, and Phoebe Dynevor practice their swings and attempt to decipher the rules of the game. Meanwhile, crew members give us an inside look at how the scene is set with elaborate flowers, colorful mallets, and delectable desserts that add another level of authenticity and detail to the fan-favorite scene.

Bridgerton is available to stream now on Netflix.
