Postproduction is the final stop for an episode of Shondaland’s hit Netflix series Bridgerton before it’s ready to be seen by the public. The editor of season two’s sixth episode, Kyle Bond, describes exactly what goes into the postproduction process. “It’s your final opportunity … to put the final pieces together,” Bond says, referring to selecting the perfect shots from everything that’s been filmed and editing them together. Capturing an actor’s glance at just the right moment, finding their strongest performance, even splicing in B-roll shots — it’s all crucial to creating the perfect level of suspense and drama in Anthony and Edwina’s wedding scene. Editing is a collaborative process, so Bond worked closely with director Tom Verica and showrunner Chris Van Dusen and also incorporated input from Shondaland and Netflix executives. The end result is a perfectly paced and captivating scene that takes us on a roller coaster of emotions.

Bridgerton is now available to stream on Netflix.
